iCloud – Experiencing Interruptions

The iCloud, the all-encompassing virtual system that protects and serves your data at all times, until now.

The iCloud itself is the epicenter for iCloud Back Up, iCloud Drive, Notes, Find My Phone and much more. The service going down for an extended period of time isn’t just a small inconvenience, it can have a profound effect on many people and businesses around the world.

Fortunately, for apple and its many loyal users this isn’t a common occurrence although there have been many reports of the service being inaccessible and see it as a critical part of their day to day lives.

The update issued by Apple was that iCloud was experiencing some technical issues, however, this wouldn’t affect every user – a slight reassurance although not ideal.

One aspect of Apple is they do not have an active Twitter account available to provide updates or answer tweets directly. This could be seen as understandable due to the pure volume of customers, as without a trained social media staff, this could cause more problems than it would solve.

This is extremely bad timing. Apple have just launched new handsets and the iCloud disruption has affected customers setting up their new phones, causing frustration and disappointment for Apple users.

Apple’s iCloud malfunction isn’t the only tech company leader experiencing issues of late. There seems to be a chain of high profile online services suffering outages and services being available for a number of hours – quite considerable considering the 2 billion users worldwide who use the services from anything from business to pleasure and even learning purposes.

Youtube at least, offered a free week for those with subscriptions of $40 as condolence for the interruption in service.  A small token however, a smart move nonetheless.

Twitter also suffered at the hands of technological malfunction. Additional long strings of randomised characters ad symbols were apparently added automatically to users’ messages rendering the platform useless for some Twitter fans.

What do you think? Is this a string of random mistakes that have hit the tech world at suspicious times? Or an attempt to sabotage the biggest players in the market?

Either way, quick recoveries and minimum damage has been caused. Customers have had their trust restored to their favourite brands.

The tech world continues to live on, grow and innovate. Customer expectations are high and we look forward to a bright future.
